May Recap: Recollections Kit was Outstanding!

This month's kit, Reflections by Echo Park, was awesome!  I was able to do quite a few layouts and even a couple cards, with lots of papers and embellishments left over for more!

Here are photos of my layouts that I completed this month:

 And cards too!

Don't forget that this month, kits are 30% off at The Memory Nest!

Throwback Thursday: More Reflections by Echo Park

During this month of May, I am scrapping with the Reflections kit by Echo Park, courtesy of The Memory Nest.  This kit has been a fabulous way to start scrapping some of my "heritage" photos!  Because the photos I used for my pages are "throwbacks," I decided that I would include these next two layouts from the kit to my Throwback Thursday Series!

For this first layout, I used an April PageMap -- it caught my eye because of the wood grain background paper and the use of an envelope for memorabilia:

This is what I came up with, after a lot of adjusting and changing:

The only items I used from my stash were gems, a button with twine and a paper clip.  Oh, and the background paper too.  Originally, I used a sheet from the kit with a wonderful wood grain effect to it (you can see it in my video HERE).  Unfortunately, I messed it up when I tried to add mist to it.  Ugh!  This paper in my stash (from Pink Paislee) worked just as well so that I could redo my page.

There is a pocket to hold some special memories, and the photo (which is of my grandparents) is paper clipped to the pocket, since there isn't a copy of it yet.  I like the look -- I may just leave it that way!

When I started this layout, the paper in the kit was getting to an end.  From these patterned papers, I punched several squares and pieced them together for a quilt-like effect.  (The chipboard letters for the title are from the Basic Grey PB&J collection.)  Again, the gem and the button with twine were the only things pulled from my stash. If I would have had more patience with my sewing machine, I would have added stitching too.

I hope you picked up some ideas and inspiration for your own layouts!  If you are interested in this kit, head over to The Memory Nest.  All kits are 30% off right now!  Click the graphic below:

It's New to Me! Reflections kit from Echo Park

It's time to showcase another kit from The Memory Nest -- for May it is the Reflections kit by Lori Whitlock and Echo Park.

The vintage, early 20th century, European feel is what makes this kit so appealing.  To see what's included in the kit, the add-ons available and a tutorial on the first layout I completed, you can watch the YouTube video:

There were many stickers and chipboard left over --definitely enough for many layouts and/or cards!  I would definitely recommend purchasing coordinating solid color cardstock, and your kit will go even further!

Coming soon is another layout with this kit, in addition to some ideas for making masculine cards!

Throwback Thursday: Using Paper Loft paper

A couple years ago, I went to a CK Scrapbook Convention here in Texas.  At the time, I didn't own a lot of quality paper, so I loaded up on some muted, more masculine colors for layouts of my husband and boys from the Paper Loft booth.  Sadly, that paper has been untouched in my stash since that time!

Challenging myself with this Throwback Thursday series, I pulled out all the Paper Loft I owned to do some layouts.  I did not have any embellishments, but I did have some Paper Loft cut-aparts which I used.

For the embellishments, I went to my stash, using navy chipboard Basic Grey letters (from my last Throwback Thursday challenge), buttons and other miscellaneous pieces.

The Paper Loft papers came from these collections:  For the Record, Old Town Tavern, Back Country and Autumn Splendor.  Here is what I came up with!

This is probably the most layered and elaborate of the three layouts I completed.  You can see buttons and twine from my stash, canvas letters from Making Memories, bingo card from Teresa Collins and the chipboard pen from Basic Grey Fact & Fiction

This is my handsome hubby, incognito with his "mountain man" look.  The heart is from Glitz, "love meter" sticker from Crate Paper, navy chipboard letters from Basic Grey, buttons from my stash, and tickets from Making Memories.

I absolutely love my Hub's new boots, and he laughed when I took this photo.  However, with photo editing and these papers, I think the layout is as awesome as the boots!  Here I used some brads from my stash, another Teresa Collins bingo card and the Basic Grey chipboard letters, along with other miscellaneous embellishments from the stash.

No process videos for these layouts this time, but I will be posting a couple videos using a kit that is "New to Me" from The Memory Nest by this weekend!

(Inter) National Scrapbooking Day - Help with Themed Scrapbooks

Welcome to my second post for National Scrapbooking Day!  This time I am sharing one of my videos on YouTube.  This video shows how I chronicled my oldest son's school memories scrapbook -- which is really a binder -- while still having cohesiveness throughout. You will see my chapter pages, and how pages done through the years still fit in within the book.

If you follow me on Instagram, it was there today that I posted a sneak peak photo of the "New to Me" kit that I am using for the month of May from The Memory Nest!  Next week on The Memory Nest blog, Leslie will be posting my three heritage layouts that I completed from the Reflections kit from Lori Whitlock by Echo Park paper.
