Scrapbook Process and Video: Today it "Feels Like Home"

Today at The Memory Nest blog, Leslie reveals more pages that fellow design team member Kelli (from Use It Scrapbooking) and I completed with the "Feels Like Home" collection by Little Yellow Bicycle.

For this page, I found some older photos of my kids from 2007.  We were visiting Auditorium Shores in downtown Austin, enjoying a beautiful, autumn day.  Yes, it was still warm enough for short sleeves, even in late November! This layout has an obvious triangle -- three groups of embellishment areas -- which is designed to move the eye around the entire page.   Here is a close-up of the embellishment areas:

The chipboard pieces and stickers are from the "Feels Like Home" collection, the enamel dots from Teresa Collins and the washi tape is Freckled Fawn. (You could probably use this great Glitz "Hello December" washi -- it would be a great substitution.)  You can find these items at The Memory Nest store, in addition to several other new collections!  And here's a special deal . . . .

Scrapbook Process: Austin is Home with Little Yellow Bicycle

The new fall collection,"Feels Like Home" from Little Yellow Bicycle, is such a wonderful color scheme and so versatile. This collection is one of the new lines that is now available at The Memory Nest store!  Using this color combination made these fall family photos (taken in October in Texas) really seem homey and cozy (even though we were still in shorts and t-shirts!).

To complete this page layout, I "sorta-kinda" went by this sketch by Becky Fleck, from the August Pagemaps:  

Maybe you can tell that I turned AND flipped the sketch for my page . . plus added banners! With the LYB matching chipboard shapes and cardstock stickers, it made this page come together quickly. (There are also wood shapes available that are really fabulous!)

Here is a closer look at one of my embellishment clusters.  Pop dots were used for the chipboard and flower stickers for dimension, plus enamel dots were added from the Family Stories collection by Teresa Collins, also available at The Memory Nest store!

Scrapbooking Process: Down by the Shore with Fancy Pants

Leslie at The Memory Nest is showing off all the new lines in her store, and I got to play with the new "Down by the Shore" collection by Fancy Pants!  This was the perfect paper to use for some of the many, many photos we took on our family summer vacation to my old hometown of St. Joseph, Michigan on the lake:

   

I really like how my groups of embellishments from my stash came together with the punch-outs and stickers from the collection!

  

For this page, I included an interactive element for some of my Instagram photos.  I made photo mats and added 3/4" on the top of the mat to fold and make a hinge.  From there, I lined up and adhered my hinged photo mats to create this cascade.  Journaling is hidden under the last photo.  

Two layouts, two completely different looks from the same collection!  How fun is that?!?!

Scrapbook Process: NSD Layout #2 - Using Different Fonts

TIP:  Experiment with different sets and sizes of letters to complete a title.

Since I had out my Bo Bunny "Timepiece" collection, I decided to do another layout with a cute black and white photo of my youngest.  So here is my second layout of the day, which completes the #9 Challenge at Two Peas in a Bucket!

As part of this challenge, you can download the JPEG freebie that is to be incorporated into your layout.  The "Love" ticket is part of the set of six you can download for FREE HERE.  I simply printed it on kraft paper and trimmed it out. 

The "I Adore You" diecut is from My Minds Eye "Lost and Found" collection.  The heart I cut with my Cricut and I used Thickers as part of my title.

Scrapbook Process: NSD Layout #1 - Ruler Distressing

TIP:  Use your ruler to easily rip your papers to make a distressed look. 

After a couple hours, I finally finished my first layout for today!  This is for the #10 Challenge over at Two Peas in a Bucket. They are offering 10 challenges with opportunities to win a prize package.

For this layout, I used 3 papers from the Bo-Bunny "Timepiece" collection.  I ripped the papers for a little more distressed look, and added the rest of the elements from my stash.  The photo is of my sweet hubby and my youngest son.  Love these two madly!

On to the next challenge!

Scrapbook Process: Playing Hide and Seek with "Lost and Found"

It was Spring Break for us in Texas this past week, and I am happy to say that not only did I finish some some more cards for my stash, but I completed layouts too!  It's been too long since I designed any pages with recent photos. 

Since there was extra time during the week, I was able to play a little "hide and seek" in my paper stash to use some goodies that I hadn't seen in a while.  Voila!  "Lost and Found" by My Minds Eye was the winner!

Here are the three layouts I completed with different color Lost & Found  papers, stickers and diecuts that I had stashed away.  The great thing about the Lost and Found collections is that they are so versatile with each other!  It is so easy to mix and match the papers and other add-ins (as I did in my third layout below).  The result is that all three pages will tie nicely together, side by side, in the album.

After completing these pages and the cards that you will see tomorrow, I had glitter everywhere!  Now I kind of remember why I didn't use this paper right away, but I do absolutely love how these pages turned out.

Card Making Process: You're the Best!

It's a quiet Father's Day here -- the hubs is sleeping during the day for another night shift tonight, but I do plan a nice dinner for him when he wakes up late this afternoon.  I so appreciate him and love him like crazy -- he is just the very BEST.  I am also blessed to have a fantastic father-in-law, who I am not only thankful to have as another dad, but also for the way he raised his son so I would have a great father to my kids too.  Love you!

In tribute to all dads out there, working hard, leading with love and doing all they can for their families, here is the card that I made for my hubby:

Scrapology Class: Proper Gentleman's Album

The great thing about working at Scrapology (http://www.scrapologytx.com/) is that I get to experiment with different companies and their new papers!

This is a chipboard "DAD" album that I created for a class at the store using the "Proper Gentleman" papers.  I really liked how it turned out, and it will be an awesome gift for an equally awesome dad!

Scrapbook Process: Fall is in the Air -- Even in Texas!

Our whole family went to the Sweetberry Farms near Marble Falls, TX for an annual "harvesting." We had a great time -- it was a chilly and cloudy day -- but ideal for photos!
The zinnia field was absolutely gorgeous -- you could pick a huge bunch for only $1.00! These are some of the layouts I completed from a challenge in my "Crop N Chat" group on CafeMom. New favorites for me!
I particularly like this layout -- it's so important to highlight the grandmas! I almost went with black and white or sepia toned photos, but then decided to take my color cues from the photos instead. I even was able to use up scraps with my square border:
